Amann Serabond Thread - Is it really that good???

Hey @Trimjobber
I see that you just became a distributor for Amann Serabond Thread. I have herd nothing but great things about this thread.
I'm hesitant to try it because I have been using Coats UV bonded for years with no problems. A lot of people have told me Amann Serabond Thread is cheaper, better and comes in more sizes and colors. I'm really curious to try it out.
Whats your opinion on this thread? Has there been any tests compering it to Coats? What are customers saying about it?

John,
Serabond really is a fantastic thread. It is made in Germany by Amann Group who is considered to be the premier thread manufacturer in Europe.
Serabond is manufactured using the best UV stable dyestuffs available in the world. It is also bonded using a proprietary process which prevents it from unraveling or balling up on your needle while sewing.
At Bry-Tech, we tested it in the field for months before becoming a Master Distributor.
Our customers love the quality, color range, sizes available, and most of all the price!
We stock Serabond in 92,138, and 210 and Bobbins in style G and M in 92 and 138.
I can email a color chart and price list to anyone who is interested.

Iām looking at this thread also. I ordered a few other brands off eBay in the past few weeks ( 4oz spools) size 92 thread and 138 size. I was even thinking about ordering some in size 210 thread also for top stitching. Question is I have yet to try the 138 size, but my machine has a size 18 needle. Will that work with the 138 or do I have to step up to a size 20 needle? I have my machine sewing hook setup for size 18 needle or smaller. I guess if I have to go up in size on the needle, I will have to reset the needle hook. For size 210 thread, what size needle to use making smallest holes? Thanks

@Trimmerman79, I had Bry-Tech match the thread with the appropriate needles when I ordered. I should receive my thread today and can let you know what they sent.

@Trimmerman79 This is the size chart that the place I buy needles recommends. You might be able to get buy with 18 but maybe not. Ive been pretty lucky on my Juki with not having a problem on the hook timing between needle sizes. Ive used 17 - 24 and it worked out fine for me. Hopefully the same for you.
Polyester Thread
Size 15 / Tex 16 / Govt. 00 - Use needle sizes 70 / 10 to 80 / 12
Size 33 / Tex 35 / Govt. AA - Use needle sizes 80 / 12 to 90 / 14
Size 46 / Tex 45 / Govt. B - Use needle sizes 90 / 14 to 100/ 16
Size 69 / Tex 70 / Govt. E - Use needle sizes 100 / 16 to 110 / 18
Size 92 / Tex 90 / Govt. F - Use needle sizes 110 / 18 to 125 / 20
Size 138 / Tex 135 / Govt. FF - Use needle sizes 120 / 19 to 140 / 22
Size 207 / Tex 210 / Govt. 3-Cord - Use needle sizes 140 / 22 to 180 / 24
Size 277 / Tex 270 / Govt. 4-Cord - Use needle sizes 180 / 24 to 230 / 26
Size 346 / Tex 350 / Govt. 5-Cord - Use needle sizes 230 / 26 to 280 / 28
Size 415 / Tex 410 / Govt. 6-Cord - Use needle sizes 280 / 28 to 330 / 30
Size 554 / Tex 600 / Govt. 8-Cord - Use needle sizes 330 / 30 to 360 / 32
@BigRig That's really cool they did that for you! a lot of supply stores don't have enough knowledge to even know that.

@John, @Trimjobber, the gal at the order desk told me there was 100 needles but she took the effort to help me find what was a match for the Contrast thread I ordered.
@Trimjobber your staff is always helpful and have always gone just that extra step for me.

Thanks for the info. I have some size 20 needles, I will try the 20 and see if it will have an issue. Also have you ever use
The size 207 thread on top stitch for decorative look? I was checking out leatherseats.com today and seen they use this thread size.

Yeah 207 is a nice size. I would try that out. 138 doesn't look that much bigger that 92. 277 is good if you want that really thick baseball stitch look. 207 is nice if you want you top stitches to pop nicely.
