Hey everyone, this is only my third time writing something here. My question has anyone ever tried using piping in a french seam. I have been trying to run ideas thru my head for my trucks new bucket seats, (new from the junk yard) but they are real nice and clean and no tears. I have bought my Ultra Leather already. With Red inserts, and black collars ( bolsters).
Thank you for your imput.

@RonAlves, Ron, I saw a YouTube video on that very thing. I think it was one Cechaflo produced. BTW, i used Ultra Leather on the seats in my '36 Ford roadster. I loved the way it sewed but unfortunately it has not worn well.

@John Long ,

A softer material you may want to try is Harmony. It is a third of the cost nd nice and soft. @RonAlves . Thats a technical project and depending on the thrucks a French Seam would be just perfect. Piping is going to crush with repeted in and outs.

@BigRig Thanks BigRig. I also like the feel of the Allante vinyl. I have 10 yards of it for the '54. i had a friend who was a trimmer in the area. He used it a lot and when he retired he let me have his sample book which I have enjoyed.

I hate the Ultra Leather did not wear better. I really loved working with it.

@John Long ,

The Allante automotive leathers are different. The one that is a little more $ is coated the cheaper one is not.

Thank you everyone, I use to have an Freightliner M2 with ultra leather and it help up real well. The truck I am doing now is my 41 chevy which when I get done will be my daily driver and hopefully a display for the upholstery work I do in it. I am almost done with the new engine and drive train on a new chassis.
