I seen a selection of these at Hole Depot, the prices were very good. Has anybody ever used one of these guns and if so which would you recommend?

I use a Sata Jet RP and a Sata NR 95 for painting but you are talking $500 to $600 each but I also have have the Husky's you speak of, I bought the combo set for around $100 if I remember right. All these guns I'm talking about are gravity feed (cup on top), I read somewhere that these aren't preferable for glues and you should use the siphon type ( cup on bottom ). Anyhow my point is that the Husky's will do just fine for glue, it has a 1.4 tip which is probably the smallest tip size you would want to run thick material through and it should be more than adequate. Just get the siphon type. FYI , the frame of the Peterbilt I posted was sprayed with a Husky lol. I didn't want to use my high dollar guns because I was spraying some fast curing materials I didn't want going through them just in case I had air compressor failer which I did and if I couldn't get my air back on line I would have ruined a lot of money!

Yeah I agree with @Bondo497. Ive seen people use the gravity guns like that but I don't like it because you cant set it down. Witch is a huge pain in the ass in my opinion. The siphon feed guns stand up on their own.
@BigRig do you have harbor freight up there? Thats where I get my glue guns from.

Hey John,

I thought Harbor Freight was a shipping company. I am sure they ship to me though. P.S @trimjobber really, really like you but there are some obstacle restricting ordering what I want.

No, Harbor Freight is a tool store. Cheap import tools for the most part, but they do have a few gems. Coming from a guy who is very picky about his spray guns (I also do custom automotive paint for which I use expensive HVLP guns), I use a $30 Harbor Freight spray gun for my glue. It's a 1.8 tip, and works like a champ!

Man Harbor Freight sounds pretty cool! Thanks guys!!! Now what would I do without this forum? I would probably have a potato sized pot full of glue that would give me a rotator cuff problem and then the glue would harden in the pot . Both bad :money_mouth: money down the drain for glue and to see a therapist to fix my shoulder.

Reviewing this thread I see the information is really valulable. Thank you guys!

Weldwood which is common in the U.S is not looking available to me. I have a big project that I have to budget glue and the cost of aerosol cans just does not fit into the equation. I also do not need half a barrell of glue either. I need to stitch k and really stick fabric to vinyl to plastic and vinyl to foam for chairs.

Any trimmers from the Great White North here have any suggestions?

I've used the ones from Harbor freight, they work good for glue, for a little while. I"m using a binks 2001 gun and a Devylbis 2 quart pressure put, Love the set up. It's a $600.00 set up, but you can get a 2 quart pressure pot for $80.00 some are less and some are more, some are way more. But the 2 quart pot kicks butt, easier to hit those hard spots under the dash of a boat helm. You can get 6' hoses or 12' hoses. It's really the only way to go, all you have to handle is a gun with a couple of hoses, lighter and easier to to deal with, hang it up or lay it down, easy.

I get mine from harbor freight also. Sign up for their email coupons or get the mail monthly catalog. They always have a coupon for x amount off of any purchase. Makes a cheap gun even cheaper. Just get the siphon primer gun.

@John I hooked up with George N Jackson as a supplier, they have their own brand of glues which includes a landeau glue for headliners and trimmer work in both an aerosol or by the pail. So far I have only used the aerosol and it was impressive

I have not been able to source 3m’s Landeau here. I have also used their Jackson 840 spray adhesive which is there answer to 3m’s Super 77 and think the Jackson brand holds better. It’s odd you can buy some of 3m’s products here but not all of them. I will be looking for a cheap spray rig soon for my winter products.

@Revv Up , @John,

The product is a dull yellow and forget about getting your fingers apart once they are adhered together with this stuff it is like crazy glue. The product did not bleed through vinyl. I soaked it in a sponge and pressed vinyl onto it to dry and all was good that way.

Massive obstacle with my current project was the absolute need to use 5/32 staples, just a waste of time waiting for those to come :disappointed:
