Embroidery on pre made headrests

This will be my first post! After hiding around here absorbing all the amazing information, and I have finally found a question that couldn’t be found (by me at least) by using the search function.

I am kind of familiar with the very basics of the embroidery process, but I have always worked with materials that were embroidered, I have an application that would require existing headrest skins to be embroidered, is this something that is possible on machines?

The concern about building new headrest Skins from previously upholstered fabric i(my first suggestion) is the new material not matching the rest of the seat/interior.

Does anyone have any advice/guidance for this? And thank you very much for reading this!

I think there are machines like post sewing machines that can be used for embroidery of existing pieces. Your best bet would be to call an embroidery shop and ask them.

Thank you very much, that’s ki d of what I’m thinking the deal is. been working my way down contact lists trying to find one. Most seem to be limited in what they are willing to do and of course don’t want to offer up info on competitors that are capable.

Any place that does hats and shirts can do it. I used to have my seats done by a place that sold dash mats at the greyhound park. I would take an over sized piece of material, (boat seats in my case) put a chalk line one the piece where I wanted the stitching to be. It was simple.

Welcome to the forum @Combat carl !!! Happy to have you here.

Yeah I would think that if they can do a hat then their machine would be able to fit inside a head rest. The trick will be hoping that they do a good job lining it up correctly. Might be a good Idea to draw a line for them to reference off of.
