Hi. Perhaps John would be interested in making an advanced seat building part 2?
I'm curious how these inserts are done. Are they just pleats spaced by flat sections? Could it be that simple?

Pretty much buddy, examine the stitching on the flat parts and it is likely that they were calculated in. My question is why? Is it just decorative?

Yes I definitly plan on do a more advanced seats course but that probably wont be until late next year...
In the mean time you can learn a bit from this video
To make the channels stand out like that you have to cut strips of high density foam to place under the raised channels when you sewing the top section to the base material. Regular scrim foam wont be defined enough.
