Hello group, We have allot of industrial machines here but I've just begun to explore possibilities with upholstery as it seems to parallel what we are set up for and that is medium/heavy work with jeans and canvas back packs. I just purchased a Singer 131w103. My understanding is anyone doing upholstery wants more than just an underfeed and that is also similar with jeans and backpacks. This machine is an underfeed only with three needles at 1/4 inch or outside to outside 1/2 inch. It is standard 10 inch bed needle to pillar. We have triple needle chainstitch but I just had to have a lock stitch triple. My first question, does anyone have experience with this machine? It sure looks like an upholstery machine. I have an opportunity to buy a Racing puller off a Singer 111w class machine. My guestimate is that if it can't fit on the 131w103 I can put it on our 112w140 (needle and underfeed but very wide needle spacing). But....I'm guessing it will fit this 131w103 and it will be a marriage made in heaven as far as machine goes but please let me know your recommendations. Lastly, with 1/2 inch outside spacing I'm looking for advice on how to do the best seam that won't be bulky. Would you recommend a full felled seam, a semi felled seam, an overlap seam? And my thoughts were to potentially use a grosgrain or petersham (I believe might be better) tape to strengthen it. I'll be honest here if I use the machine for upholstery I will certainly use if for other projects as well however I would really like to do some work in the upholstery area. Did some covers for mattresses in our tree house 2nd floor studio apartment fold down beds and liked the results. Want to try some other stuff. Best regards, Mike

Hi @ke6cvh Sorry I dont have any experience with triple needles. What type of upholstery work are you doing that requires it?
