Looks like you are going to have to go in and carefully separate the jute foam from the material. In the bottom pic, it looks like it’s just attached in a few spots with glue? Make your repairs and when sewing keep in mind how that foam was sewn or glued on. That way it’s attached and looks identical. Not having even done one of these though it may be easier than that.

Looks like a typical Mercedes seat. If you are good at what you do, Mercedes is the ultimate test of your skills. I hope you know what you are doing, because if you don't, you can get into a lot of trouble real quick. Good luck.

It’s not even glued just the middle insert is sewn to the jute foam I’m not sure how to do it.

The best tip I can give you is, if you don't know what you are doing, don't do it. I know you are just trying to help out a friend and learn something in the process. Mercedes is not the type of car to learn on. What you can do is, tell your friend it is above your skill level, and he should get an original or replacement seat cover that you will install.

MMM... I understand your point Mr. B but honestly almost everything I know was a result of taking on a job that I had no Idea how to do and just figuring it out. I think its the fastest way to learn. Lol not always the easiest though.

@Jsoler12183 Is the problem that the heating element is part of the foam? Why are you not able to just mimic what the factory did?

The heat element is part of the foam the center insert seems to be sewn to the foam then the the outside parts are sewn to the insert it’s just different from what I’ve done.

Yeah thats interesting. Must have done it that way because of the heating elements. You should be able to just copy what they did though.

@Jsoler12183 ,

Kinda funny man but I got a 89 Mercedes 560SL soft top to install. I will look at the seating in it.

Looks like a great opportunity for a learning moment.
The way I view things like this is that if it was created I can recreate it. You may have to try a couple of times but it can be done.
I also agree with @John , you will never get to that next level if you don't do work above your current skill level. Hit it head on and make you and your friend proud that you did it.
:thumbsup: :grin:
