Hello my name is Danny.
I have a few questions and could use some experienced guidance.

Back story, I have spent the better part of 6years building a car. The original (previous) car had a burgundy interior, before I bought the car someone cut up the carpet to do metal work underneath.
I pulled out all the interior parts I had stored in my basement and had everything needed to install a blue interior.

The front seats however are from a 2door version of the car and have a very different pattern than rest of the interior going in the car.

This is what the 4door front seats (I don't have in blue) material and pattern look like, the back seats and door panels for my interior all have this pattern and material.

This is what the 2door seats look like (these are grey, I have some in blue).

The entire patterned center of the backrest is actually separate from the bolsters, it wraps around cushioning and you can pass your arm from one side to the other behind the cushions. This is the only reason I want to attempt to reupholster the center of these seats, the base of the seat will require lots more work.

I searched for seat covers for a while but found nothing suitable. So I started looking at automotive upholstery online.
Figure I can "just" change the center upholstery of the cushion, have been looking for alternatives that would work.
Just as in only, not as in simply.

I have read about different upholstery materials and there qualities.
But I know nothing about upholstery, I don't know what material the back seats are made of and don't know the texture or feel of what I am looking at online, there are no stores within driving distance that sell automotive grade upholstery.

After Emailing questions to one upholstery sales site (which they gladly answered) they recommended buying a sample piece. The cost of the sample is reasonable but it's $27.20 US to ship it to Canada, if I knew I was looking at the right material then for color and pattern confirmation a sample would be a good idea.

I would like to use an upholstery that has similar qualities to the factory upholstery. It is very soft, it is very dirt and odor resistant, it doesn't get hard or stiff in cold weather it doesn't compress or bend like it has a vinyl backing, more like cloth and it holds up quite well to UV.
The car is a 1988 Mazda 626.

The upholstery I'm interested in is 100% nylon.
It is called Royal blue crushed Velvet k4970, also Blue classic crushed velvet C869 or Pattern number: P6938.
All three of these upholstery's use the same pictures, made of the same material, sold in 54 inch x 1yard lengths that weigh 1.1lb.

Is it possible the same upholstery is sold by different distributors under different pattern numbers and names?

Has anyone worked with 100% nylon /velvet upholstery, I can't tell if it is thick or thin, if it's soft, if it has any pile ... from the pictures I find online, I can't even find pictures of anything upholstered with this stuff.

These are the pictures of the Blue crushed velvet:

Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. Looking for of course a custom look but not to flashy (like light sporty blue swede).

Also to me disassembling the seats, removing the upholstery, removing the stitching, making templates, cutting and stitching in the fabric and reassembling the seats will be a monumental task, I don't expect any of this to be easy.

Is factory automotive stitching near impossible to remove.
Once the old upholstery is un-stitched, is it possible to stitch in the new upholstery with the old upholstery behind it, double layered for added padding and resilience or would it change the stitch lines (seems) on the lower seat and create wrinkles?
