Top stitch foot

I got this top stitch foot from amazon it is 1/4 inch did a French seam just to try it out but it seems like it’s too wide to match what cars today have should I get 3/16 foot?

They are pretty cheap for a set of three --- 1/8 ---3/16 and 1/4 from amazon

I don't have a topstitching foot but I measured my topstitching and it's 3/16

I personally dont use those types of feet. I just but a mark on my regular feet to follow for the desired width.
