I just built my own swing back leaning post And I'm going to attempt my own upholstery I just cannot figure out which way to which way to attack a double sided cushion. It is built with 1 in square tube
My thought is a Box cushion with zipper on bottom but don't know how to design my own patterns

I use a brown floor cover paper used for keeping paint off of floor while painting walls. Places like Lowes have it in the paint section and it comes in a roll. It is a heavy paper almost like poster board, but much less expensive. It makes good templates. You need to decide if you want rounded corners or square.
I would put the zipper on the back for the seat and on the bottom for the seat back. Should be fairly to make with a bit of planning,
