Foam with Vinyl as Flooring

Hi all,
I’m looking for recommendations for a sew foam that can withstand being stood on in a show vehicle. I’m working on a big rig show truck and we’ve decided to attempt vinyl fabric flooring with stitched diamonds instead of carpet. What do we think of sew/scrim foam when compressed under body weight - Either half inch or quarter inch thickness. No shoes as he takes them off before he gets in. Is there another type of foam that you can recommend that I can also run through my sewing machine…. That’s the tricky part :joy:

I would use a thinner 1/8" or 1/4" closed cell foam as a buffer to hide any small bumps or sharp edges on the floor before applying vinyl. Closed-cell foam is much more resilient and firmer. It will sew fine in any walking foot machine but it will not give the same 3d appearance on the pleats that would otherwise be seen with an open-cell "sew foam". I would also take a look at some carpet-textured vinyl flooring materials used for marine applications.

I use close cell for bass boat decks, requires a special glue, if you glue it down. It would be better than scrim.
