Thread Thickness

Hi Guys just wondeing if you are adding diamonds or doing decorative stitching is there a particular thread thickness to use so the stitching will stand out ? or is it the normal thickness for joining seams etc ?

Mostly 138 thread. You will need a bigger needle.

anyone any idea what the Europen equivilent is for 138 thread ?

Tex 135 or T135 is the same as v138. I often us T210 and even T270 for topstitching. The needle size recommendations are a starting point.

I do mostly outdoor seating so I only use bonded polyester 138. Depending on the application and therefore thread type I find it can be hard to find a good colour selection in 207 and 277.

All depends on the look you are wanting and how much you want the stitches to stand out. I will usually sew up some test pieces with different thread sizes. to see want I or the customer likes best.
Tip! For decorative top stitches you dont need to use the same size thread in the bobbin as the top thread. Use your normal size thread in the bobbin and youll get much longer stitches before having to change bobbins.
