I am currently bidding a job to recover a jeep interior to match that of the Jurassic Park Jeeps. The OEM original is called dark green trailcloth 92-20425. Of course it is out of stock. Miami Corp has 1 yard but that is all that I could find. The customer wishes to have it as close as possible. What would be a good alternative to the trailcloth? I was thinking of either Cordura or Duck cloth. What are you thoughts and expertise. Thanks in advance..

I'm not very familiar with trail cloth but I know Cordura is very coarse. I think it would be too coarse and too stiff to conform around corners nicely.

Yeah it's stout. I have used it on some fire truck seats. Doesn't form all that well.
Here is the trail cloth.

"Duck cloth" is cotton canvas, it would be nice at first, but won't last as long as synthetic materials. "Shelter duck" is a cotton treated product made for tents, it's harder to the touch than upholstery cloth. White and olive drab milspec is most common. canvasetc.com is a company I've bought from.

Acrylic canvas used for boat coverings will last in the sun, but it's still hard to the touch and not terribly abrasion resistant. Cordura HP is an acrylic product used for backpacks, it will last in the sun longer, but is not as abrasion resistant as Cordura nylon. They are both back coated and will trap moisture, so not too comfortable long term, but for an open jeep that may be what you want. Sailrite.com has HP and cordura nylon as well as acrylic canvas, some of their products have a "rub test rating" so you can see which cloth is more or less abrasion resistant.

Have you considered sunbrella or sunbrella furniture fabric? They are very durable and have a ton of color and pattern options.

How suitable are "outdoor" upholstery fabrics for automotive use? 30,000 to 50,000 "double rubs" comes up in the specifications, though vinyl is far more.100% acrylic or 50/50 polypropylene, polyester blends ? UV resistance from 1000 hours to 2000 hours? What should be a minimum spec for auto use. I bought some "RV" fabric years ago and now have to redo my personal car due to the fabric wearing on the cushion and rotting on the backrest bolster where it's in the sun.

I'm asking as I am thinking of going "all nautical" on my next interior and want to use some of the prints I found on the Sailrite website, but don't want to use a fabric that's not strong enough for automotive daily use.
