Redo Old Rocker

Hello,
I have an old rocker that's been in the family forever. It has been reupholstered at least once but that was very long ago. I am in the process of redoing the chair now because just about every joint had come loose. My question is concerning the seat itself (22"x18.5"). The springs and everything in the seat was shot for the most part (burlap, cotton batting, springs, horsehair). A few of the springs are bent really bad and the retaining wire that runs around the top of them is bent and broken. The center springs are of the strap type and I have not found exact replacements so I was considering using Jute webbing with all new springs (5"). I then started wondering if I could just use high density foam for the seat instead. Was hoping someone could chime in with advice, pros and cons of each. Any other advice? TIA!

For the most part my experience is auto/marine. However I would probably elect to replace the springs with foam unless this is a valuable antique that need to be exactly as original.
