I am trying to make some rally lamp covers, like the ones in the picture.

Can anyone describe how that perfect circular seam is done ?

From what I can see its really no different than sewing any curved piece just the curve doesn't end. It takes a little practice to sew smooth curves like that. It helps to have good machine speed control or a servo motor.

I do circles repeatedly so I made up some jigs which work great but if your just doing 1 it won’t be worth it.

Here’s my jig, just a circle of 1/4” aluminum... I put the foot against it and turn it as I sew.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am looking at a walking foot and a servo motor. Thanks John.

And Revv Up - That is a great idea. I'll see if I can get something made up. This won't be a one off, I'm fairly sure others will want some doing !!!

Necessaty being the mother of invention, I found I couldn’t sew a decent circle freehand
