Hi all ive recently bought a carpet surger to replace adding tape to the edge of my car carpets and car mats. Me personally I think it looks better hence the change. Yes I still offer tape before anyone asks lol. So my question is.... does anyone use one of these who would like to share a little information?? I had to change a couple of things around on it as the old owner seemed to have them wrong as per all the videos I've watched about this machine (which has seemed to help a little) but I'm finding the edge whipping isn't going all the way round. Is this because I have too much tension on the whipping yarn?? I've tried to adjust this but ends up piling up so would say to slak...

Any help would be highly appreciated
Regards
George

Hi big rig, thankyou for the reply. Soon as I'm back in the shop I will take a picture of the u der side of the carpet to.show what I mean but here is my machine dk 2502 there are a few names on this machine but its based on the titan dk2500 which seams to be a good machine for outside and Inside turns. Since taking the machine apart to clean it in noticed the needle is bent so waiting for the shops to reopen to order a new one.

@George , Are you doing that much volume or did you just want a different look from classic?

@BigRig not that much volume really. Just want a more OEM finish to the carpet sets. Plus in my personal opinion I think the surger looks 100% better than tape

I try not to mess with sergers or chain stitchers if i can help it but pics help. Always start with the basics, new (straight) needle(s) that are the right size for the thread being used. Triple check the thread path, play with tension. What were the things that you changed from the PO's set up?

Hi George, I've used these machines a lot over the years in automotive and aircraft Interiors. When I run into trouble I re-thread the machine and then adjust the tension. Sounds obvious I know but the amount of times I've found the thread incorrectly threaded. Whipping machines are temperamental at best of times but go back to basics and you will get there. Also make sure the carpet runs smoothly at the same level as the foot. I agree with you about the surged edges looking better.
