I found this line which is not listed in on the Consew USA website, likely imported from Europe as they are 240V only. The interesting feature is they are all 16mm foot lift, automated and come in 14", 18", 25" harp depth. This dealer in Florida is the only one I found in the USA to date.

They sound exciting. There is (or will be) a standard version too without the bells and whistles and regular servo. I sure hope that a 110v automated version will follow.

I posted a web link, just checked it and it works for me. See photos and descriptions on vendor's site.

@MalcolmM , those machines are made in China as far as I know the technology was purchased from a German manufacture long ago.

Direct drive on the Consews may be what is making these new.

The question I have would be in the sewing of the machine. Do these new machines sew any different than say machines of the 80'S? I see stitch length dials on them and computers but is the needle and feed system any different?

To automate or not to automate, that is the question. I think it depends upon how many hours a day you are actually sewing. I use the sewing machine the smallest part of my day so automation for me would be nice but not a real productivity gain vs the cost. If you are literally sewing more than half of your day then it could be a benefit. In a factory automation pays big returns in productivity.
