Hey guys I’m going to be recovering this ATV seat and was wondering about how to go about fixing the damage foam? A few chunks are missing just need to know the best way to repair this. Also should I use marine vinyl to recover vs standard vinyl? Thanks

Just use an air grinder with a 3" 80 grit disk. Grind out all the old bad foam. Glue a new peace of foam in place and use the grinder to shape the new foam.
Marine vinyl will be best for that seat.

What do you guys think about the seat foam, should I just replace it? Looks like mold to me.

I would definitely look into replacing the foam, if going ahead with the project. Tricky part here is, did you already quote the job? What's the added cost? Can the customer replace the entire seat cheaper than having a new one made? A lot of those seats now have perforated vinyl so they dry out better once they're wet.

That's an older Polaris seat. If its just going to be a farmyard machine repair the foam bring it back to life and recover it.

I have not quoted the job yet, just took it a part first to see what I’m working with. Then price it if I have to replace the entire foam seat. I’ve seen online where they sell just the foam. I did notice the foam was really soaked. I think that came from the person they bought it from had it setting out in the weather. Since it had several rips and tears, the water had a easy was in to the foam. I think if I use a marine vinyl I should be fine. Also they will be storing it inside a garage not out in the elements.

Yeah the guy just going to use it on his property for fun, it’s an old 86 Polaris . I’m just letting it dry out right now. If I use this foam, then I would just need to fill the low spots of the seat foam with foam. Then wrap it in marine vinyl then I should be good to go.
