My machine did not come with flat feet so I ordered the part number listed in the manual online.
The outer foot does not clear the feed dog, should it?
The throat plate opening is .256
The feed dogs is .250
The outer presser foot opening is .210

Looking at my triple feed machine sewing action the outer foot and the feed dog never engage in a way that the dog would jam in the narrow outer foot. So at least base on my machine and opinion, you should be okay on that point.

You have fabric between them. Does it sew?

All my machines are the same way. If you watch the feet and feed dog action when you roll the machine over by hand you will notice that when the outer foot is down the feed dog drops below the surface and moves forward. Then as soon as the feed dogs raise above the surface the outer foot lifts up to allow the fabric to feed through then machine. So basically the outer foot never comes in contact with the feed dog while sewing.

Thanks.
The original foot on the machine had clearance equal to the throat plate. So wanted to make sure the new foot was not going to cause problems.
