That is caused from the leather shrinking due to sun light exposure and not conditioning the leather with cleaner and lotion on bi yearly basis.

Unfortunately no easy way to fix it. Once leather shrinks like that there isn't a way to stretch it back out that I know of....

If I was you I would cut a piece of black vinyl and tuck it in that hole to hide the color difference between the foam and leather.

That sounds frustrating! I've dealt with similar issues on leather car seats before especially when the headrest guides start pulling away. A good upholstery adhesive and some careful clamping usually help reattach it cleanly. Just be sure to match the adhesive to the type of leather. Speaking of leather care, if you’re into quality materials like those used in car interiors, you might appreciate the craftsmanship behind Western Leather Jackets too same durability, just wearable!
