Hello!

I have a glue sprayer that was working well with a nice spray pattern. It was well cleaned as it wasn't going to be used for a while. When I went to use it this past week, it no longer has a spray pattern but rather looks more like a kid's runny nose in the winter. Cleaned it again thinking I had missed something -- had a decent spray pattern when the cleaning solution was in the jar. Shook up the glue -- the result was momentarily better but quickly when back to snot.

The sprayer and glue are from George N. Jackson.

Any suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?

Type of glue and how old is it??

I have the Critter brand and find I have to disassemble and clean a couple time a year, they sell a rebuild kit for all the parts that can get gummed up with glue but I find I can burn out the glue and get it going decent.

Another couple details is the height of the siphon tube in relationship to the air tube, the siphon tube must be almost above the blow tube. Mine works good at 50 psi but the instructions say between 35-70 psi, so you can play with that a bit. Make sure any air intake holes into the glue canister are not plugged. What make of gun is it?

@Revv Up The gun is from George N. Jackson (Canadian company) and is the sprayer recommended for their glue. @Rug Dr. I've had the glue for a year and have been using it on and off, but not in the sprayer since the summer (the tasks tackled since have required a brush for small spots).

@Revv Up -- Thanks for the idea about the PSI. I had played around with that a bit but think I was likely too high. I'll also check the positioning of the sprayer and its components.

I don't know if this is the same style gun you use but hopefully it helps. I was able to fix my issue by cleaning out the vent screw on the cap. I did go back and remove the vent and drilled it out 1/8" and that seems to keep it going longer and is easier for cleaning it out. I just use a "tee" pin or small pick usually and pull out any dried glue. Hope this helps!

Most likely the vent is plugged. That's the most common issue. Possibly the glue has thickened and needs to be thinned.
