Hog ring alternatives

Watching Johns video on installing a newly sewn cover on a car seat back rest, and John used hog rings to join it at the bottom. He used hog rings because it wouldn't be seen that's all that was required.
What have others used, especially if it's visible?
I guess something that could be added at the end of the job would be best, rather than a zipper. So are snap studs the best?

I have used these on each side of the cover and then hook them together when you install the cover.
https://www.albrightssupply.com/seat-cl ... -x-1-sc005 but you have to make sure you are spot on when you do you design and make the templates because there is really no way to adjust the tension they put on the cover after they are installed.

Another option would be sewing in a listing rod and hooking onto that from behind or plastic j hooks

There is many ways to accomplish that. The suggestions above are great choices. You can also ad in strips of wood or ABS to stable the cover to. Then you can either use Hidem on the seam or make a nice trip piece that clips in over the seam.
