Hey everyone! I just purchased John's All-in-one-course as I have two car interiors that I am attempting to redo. John's YouTube videos are what made me feel like this was something I could actually accomplish and I found myself following and remembering a lot of his advice, so figured I owed him some actual money. :joy:

I picked up a gently used Juki 1541 yesterday by recommendation from one of John's videos about the Sailrite fabricator. I thoroughly cleaned it and began re-oiling it, but I noticed that the timing belt is soaked with oil, so I ordered a new one and will not be sewing with it until I can replace it.

Not a complete stranger to sewing, but definitely in the beginner stages. So I'm looking forward to picking up any tips and tricks from these forums. I've already been lurking here for the last few months and it seems like a great community of people, so I am excited to be here.

Welcome, I'm quite new here myself. I purchased Johns videos a couple of years ago, and then life got in the way and it's only now I'm getting stuck into it, but it seems to be a great community.

Welcome. Between Johns video, this forum, and a ton of trial and error is entirely how I've learned this craft so far. You will do well if you follow the lessons from the videos, and if you get stuck there are lots of knowledgeable people on here.

The courses are really nice, not much of a car guy but it translate's into the marine industry quite well. The rubber wheel for the bobbin winder will get oil on it as well, take out the three screws and clean it off along with the metal surface inside the machine, turn it by hand to get it all cleaned off.

Welcome. I also bought a Juki 1541 but gently new. No complaints about that or the videos. They are a great place to start. Alexander Dyer has some great videos on maintenance for that machine which can help some.

Sail-rite has lots of marine and general content if you want project examples. Long and in detail but not much fun to watch otherwise.
