Hi,
I know I’m probably overthinking this but what kind of fabric can I use for piping? I’m mostly concerned abot fading and wear.
I’m looking for a green classic camo and just can’t find anything “automotive “ grade.
I can find ripstop nylon, waterproof polyurethane/canvas, cotton duck and printed webbing… oh and gift wrap ribbon! Lol!
Any suggestions? Please? :)

@Jace , you are going to have to use what you can to match the seat with some consideration of the durabilty/wear. I do not think that rip stop will handle very well stitching the pipe into it. I have made things with camo and here is what I would do. Go find a camo bed sheet with a 180 or over thread count and cut tit up. You will get enough length for the piping.

I normally make welting from the fabric I'm using, but have purchased pre made welting from Sailrite, it's UV resistant vinyl and worked for the job I was doing. I would only use the same fabric or heavier as the welting on a seat takes far more abrasion than you would think.

Sounded to me like he could not find any and whatever he can get for a match will have to do.

You can make welting out of any type of fabric you want. Lol I would avoid gift ribbon though.

Maybe look at marine grade vinyl in the colors you want, its probably the most compatible/durable. If you just need the insert you wrap the material you need, I found mine on Sailrite's site. they have it in several types.
