No problems marking, the feet I have are smooth on the bottom.

I think that is just a powerful deep Top stitch giving the illusion of piping.

Thanks for the comments! There is no piping, both layers of vinyl have 1/4 inch sewfoam laminated to them. I trimmed the foam on the side of the seam that gets the top stitch right down the seam before top stitching. And left the foam on the side that gets topstitched. I guess an easier way to say is the foam is not trimmed on the quilted piece and trimmed after assembly but before top stitch on the non quilted pieces. I think that's what plumps up the top stitching a bit and somewhat give the appearance of piping.
