We got this chair as a freeby from FB Marketplace. We are currently re-gluing it. For the seat, we are thinking of using zig zag spring on a frame that slides into the seat base. We think that was what was done before. There no nail holes on the bottom. Within the interior of the seat, it looks like there were nail holes, possibly for a wood stringer. The stringer in the front is still partially in place.

I have done a coil spring reupholstery job, so I know how that works

The zig zag spring we think should be 5?. The space is roughly 24" across. Is that too many? Too few?

Then the length, we don't know if the springs should be flat or rounded. Video's show either way. What do you recommend?
