Hey eveyone!

I've seen sew foam used 2 different ways:

1. By gluing the foam to the vinyl and then stiching together, or
2. By gluing the sew foam to the seat foam, trimming it to shape, then stiching the plain vinyl together and then covering the seat.

Is one way better or worse than the other? It seems to me that either would work fine, maybe its just a preference for the fabricator? I think i like the look of the stiching better with method #2, the seems are less "puffy", but it might be more work to glue the sew foam to the seats. Any thoughts?

I only glue foam on foam when doing foam repair. Otherwise it is glued to the vinyl. Gluing to the sew piece adds fullness, and hides the seam allowance. If i was going to put pieces together without sew foam, i would just forget it altogether, i dont see how gluing sew foam to the seat foam would be much of an advantage unless you are hiding a blemish in the seat but that's just me.

I second Adam and BigRig here as well.

If you want flatter top stitch seams you can come back and trim the sew foam of the seam allowance once your first seam is sewn.
