Driver seat base cushion swap

Hi everyone!

New to the forum and a somewhat amateur DIYer.

I have a rather strange question to ask, and I hope someone will be able to advise me:

The seats in my 2014 Dacia Duster are the worst thing possible. The base is extremely short (I'm 190cm/6'2") and is slanted forward, so in effect I'm sitting on my ass only (feels like being on a bad stool). The seat rails are asymmetric (inside is 5cm higher than the outside), so a full swap with anything other than an old Renault seat (e.g. 2005 Clio) is out of the question.

I've been looking at the construction of the seat itself and it seems it's not very complicated - there's the frame itself, and the cushion sort of just plops on top and is most likely held on with nothing more than hog rings.

(not my pic, stole it off a different forum :innocent: )

Now here's the question - do you guys think I can get just the base from a better seat, and somehow implant it onto that frame?

I'd really appreciate any input on this!

TIA

I would just glue some new foam on top and shape it to your desired shape and comfort. I use an electric carving knife and a 3" 80 grit sanding disk on and air angle grinder to shape all my foam projects.
