General Cleaning and Lubrication of Pfaff 145

I have ordered a manual for the Pfaff 145 to help keep it up and running. I was wondering if there is a "one size fits all" lubricant for my machine? I'm sure lubricants have improved since it was built. What are you guys using to lube your machine and how often are you servicing it?
Thanks in advance,
Root

I'm no expert, but I have the same question as you. I use a clear oil on all the ports and sliding bars and hypoid gear oil on the miter gears.

What worries me is over-servicing and getting oil on the material. Not knowing how much is too much kinda deal.

On the older machines I use generic sewing machine oil. Just do a google search for "sewing machine oil" and you will find a lot of options.
On newer machines sometimes the manufacture has oil for that specific brand of machine. Its probably no different than the generic stuff but I usually purchase what the manufacture recommends. Just to be safe.

Those zoom spouts are handy, what we use is just labed "lilly white oil" and i fill my zoom bottles with it. I do just 1 drop on any place metal touches metal. Every 8 hrs of use or once a month if you don't use it that much.
