Possible to tape a patch to a leather seat?

I know this isn't the ideal use, but I purchased a pair of leather seats to replace me OEM seats that have the logo embordered into them. I also purchased some patches to stick to the new seats to replicate the OEM look. I was hoping I could use some double sided tape to stick the patch to the seat so its reversible in the future when the seats come out of the car to sell. I just purchased some heavy duty double sided tape on amazon but the tape did not stick to the seat at all.

Does anyone think this is possible or should I give up on the idea? Here is a picture of the seats to get an idea of the leather materiel. Image

What temperature will that black material be when sitting in a hot car. The double sided tape is most likely going to slide off and you will be left with a mess of adhesive to try and remove.

I have never seen any double sided tape that would work for that. How big is the hole your are trying to patch?
