Hello:
I have an older lazy-boy fletcher reclining sofa. It has wear spot and I am wanting to fix it. (I’m now assuming it’s a synthetic leather). There is a guardman tag, so I’m assuming it has been treated with something.
I purchased some leather dye from a local hobby store, thinking this would be the way to go.
I applied the dye to a small section. The dye just sat on top and didn’t penetrate at all.
So I was going to clean it up with rubbing alcohol and a small amount of paint thinner.
That ended up taking the original dye/color material off and straight down to what I’m assuming is synthetic material.
I’m looking for advice on what to do next. I have seen a few spray products, which seem to be for car seats. Is this a good option?
I do have a spray gun if I can get the paint/stain in liquid, instead of a spray can.
My main objective is to re-paint/color the section that is now bare.
Ideally I would like to make the entire sofa a lighter color, if possible.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards
Kp
