Just finished up the second attempt at this cover. There are still a few little issues with the way the panels went together. Will a steamer help these ripples relax?

I would say yes, a steamer would help, also a few hours sitting out in the sun might help also.

Steam might help. Those concave pieces are difficult to get looking good. Did you use foam on this cover?

So far steam and sun have had mixed results. The softer ones that are circled have improved but another worse wrinkle in a new place has developed.

Yes, 1/4 inch foam on every thing, foam and fabric fully bonded with 3M 77 before assembly.

@sandmanred , it looks great really. The issue is the fabric has nothing to relax into or stretch out of due to the bend in the vinyl from the concave pieces. I think you should mark this one up as a success!

So next time try doing this. When backing the concave curved pieces with scrim first spray some temp tac on the seat and lay the 1/4 foam over it. Then spray the foam and your piece with contact cement and attach it the 1/4 scrim foam. Now peal the piece off the seat and perimiter stitch the edge and trim excess foam. This will really help keep that piece in the right shape to fit the seat.

Makes sense, kind of preforming the piece as it's laminated. Thanks, I'll give that a try on the next complex shape I try.
