Can this be reupholstered easily or is it a big job?

First time poster & no upholstery experience at all.
I was just curious if there is a simple way of reupholstering or even making the attached look presentable.
It’s not very old but it’s a tweed sofa which has obviously seen better days.
I was thinking of just laying some new tweed on top & tucked down the sides (which I’m sure is sacrilege!) but I wasn’t sure how to make it look ok across the front where the piping is.
Any advice at all is very welcome.
