re-covering leather kit console on Porsche 911

I have taken the old vinyl off my console... When I removed the old material it just slide out from between the yellow plastic sleeves and the black insert, but it seems there is no way of tucking it back in between the plastic parts ...I 'm guessing I need to remove the staples (?) in order to do that.

If i do remove the staples?..and how would I re-staple it? on. Is there a specific stapler for this job? I looked at videos of "HOT STAPLERS" though the staples do not look like those on the console...which look like an everyday staples (photos). Which Im sure they are not!

Nothing is easy!

Thanks

My guess is that the middle black part comes off and is re installed after the outer piece get wrapped. Can you tell what those staples are holding in place?

Also typical upholstery air staplers will shoot staples in to plastic no problem.

the staples only held the plastic Yellow frame to the Black plastic insert..I decided to drill holes and put in screws instead of staples. Think the plastic is too brittle at this point to try staples again

I agree with John on the covering but my guess is that they wrap the top down to the part where it is stapled, then insert the black center. This would let you hide the raw edge wrapped on top then stapled the piece and continue wrapping down to cover the staples and then the bottom would just be folded around at the bottom of the console assuming that edge sits on carpet or in another piece.
