I recently bought a used juki 1541s and has been working like a dream, but this week started to act wierd and then this happened https://photos.app.goo.gl/UZrLrmahcUjpEyEX9

Does anyone has a clue why this is happening?

The servo motors I am familiar with are controlled by an electronic eye. The foot pedal operates a "vane" which interrupts the light. The less light the faster the motor runs.

I suspect your linkage may not be returning all the way, there is dirt blocking the light, or the vane has come loose inside the motor. Granted, all this is just my wild guess and I certainly don't claim to be an expert. I have opened mine up though and modified the light controller for added low speed control so I do have an idea how it works.

I'm sorry but I have not seen that problem before. My guess would be something is wrong with the motor or something with the pedal is sticking.

Thank you for your response, so basically I have to take the motor apart? Can it be done while still attached to the table? Any pics of what to look for?

Having a bad motor is what I fear but who knows.

@luis_upholstery My motor is a SewQuiet 5000. The speed control mechanism is behind the end cap of the motor. To open it up does not involve getting into anything electrical. I wish I could tell you if other brands are similar but I can't.
