I'm a total upholstery novice and I just wanted to make some cushions for some chairs just to see if I could do it and to see if it's something I might want to do more of. Anyway, I've always called it welting but I've seen it called piping so I'm not sure what the term is but I need a foot for my Singer that will do the job. I don't want to rack up a bunch of unessisary shipping charges by ordering the wrong item so Im asking for some help finding this foot. The foot that's on the machine now has a finger screw on the side that when you loosen the screw the foot just comes off. If someone can help I would realy appreciate it soooooo much. Again, this is a Singer 239. Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but I have two welt feet for my machine. I have a 1/4” and a 3/16" welt foot. Normally, I find I use the 3/16" most frequently.

Yep your looking for welt feet. They should be readily available for your machine. That a very common foot type.
