Hi John,

First off, many thanks for the great video courses. I’m just starting out, just getting a machine set up and gathering materials to practice. I watched the apprentice course and picked up a lot of info.

Now I just watched the double pleat video from the new advanced topstitch course, and I noticed that you start in the middle of the panel, and when you move on to start a new pleat you sew the far edge, then move in and sew the closer adjacent stitch. What is the rationale for that?

Hey @Joemcglynn Welcome to the forum! Happy to have you here.

Great question! You certainly have a good attention to detail to notice that. That will be really helpful to you in making great interiors!
The reason I sewed it in that order was so that I can also use the second line next to the left side of the foot as another guide while sewing. Its just a personal preference. The important thing is that you sew the sets of lines moving toward the outside. Its ok if you don't follow that perfectly with the double stitches that are right next to each other.

I hope that helps makes sense.
