Sharpening

There is a top posted already about different brands of scissors and I didn’t want to highjack that thread. I have a good pair of scissors now, but still have my old pair as a spare. Only problem with them is that they are somewhat dull. Now the question is, do you all Sharpen your own when they get dull, replace, or have a professional sharpen them? I’m having troubles finding someone around here that will do them. I’m going to go ask a beauty supply store in the area if they know of anyone. My mom a retired beautician said they had a guy who would come around every so often and sharpen theirs on the spot but didn’t know his business name of if he’s still around. I’ve tried sharpening my old ones by following the angle already on the blade. It helped greatly but not as good as a new set were or probably professionally done.

I also use this file from sailrite to do minor sharping to sissors as I go. It’s also great for your hook on your machine. I just went to the sailrite site and seen they are discontinued so I bought two more. They are worth their weight in gold for sure

I thought about using the mobile sharpening guy but when looked at his truck he just used a grinder. Sissor all have set angle they should be sharpened at ( changes buy manufacture )so I was not going to give him $500 in sissors to just do by eye.

Yep Jay is right. The twice as sharp set up is the bee's knees. I actually tried to get them to send me one so i could make a video so I could show everyone how to use them but they didn't want to...
But if you don't want to spend the money on that most local upholstery supply shops will sharpen them for you. If not they will know someone.

my local supplier did mine for $2. If i was in there more or had a bigger volume of business, they would probably do them for free if I asked. A well spent $2 if you ask me.
