@John
The problem that I am having with Head Rests is being able to get a good tuck on the bottom where the front and the back come together. I either get bunching of material or an incorrect curve. Any suggestions?

Also, what are the official names of the two pieces in the attached pic?

I looks like the side flap that folds under to hide the foam is too long. The bunching comes when you try to clip the front and back flaps together. It folds the side flap with it. Hope that makes sense.

Here’s a page from veteran co with their clips

My best guess is that your getting miss aligned at some point when your sewing. Head rests are difficult because they have a lot of tight curves that make it easy to get out of alignment. Make sure that you are giving your self plenty of relief cuts on the turn to allow the seam allowance to open up and flow around the curve. Also know that the on curves your alignment marks don't always line up on the edge of the seam allowance. On curves you need to imagine your marks are pointing to the spot on the actual seam. Its that spot that you need to line up as best you can.

Cody could totally be right too. If your pattern is too big or stretched you could end up with extra material there.

I don't see what exactly wrong on pics, but I don't have any issues with alignment myself. I put sew line with pencil and I staple pices together 360. Then it's all about following curve and being smooth. This is where my problem is.

I just placed order for Arrow clip with Veteran Co. PITA since they don't have stuff on website. Had to go through autorization forms, emailing, etc.

Here is recent video right on topic. And I will try it next myself. I make it harder for myself by using sewing foam on big piece.

@IvanD why did you have to do all that work to order from them? I’ve never done that when I order, just call and tell them what I want and that’s it.

Maybe it’s because first time? I had to give them CC authorization form, driver license and image of CC

Thank you @Cody for posting that chart with their # on it. That will definitely help.

@John I made my first patterns off of the original head rests material. So, that should not have been too much material. I saw on the video that cechaflo just posted that he has the sew foam on the head rests itself. I have mine on the velour material which may be causing some of the issue. But I am sure that I am not following the curve the way that I should either partly to the fact that I don't have much control over the speed of the machine. Holding the material and turning the wheel by hand hasn't"t been an option either. There again, partly for my inexperience. BUT, I am a determined person and I WILL GET IT....eventually.

Well It looks like the original cover was cloth. Cloth can stretch out a lot and can be difficult to use as a pattern. Make sure when you use old cover as pasterns you not flattening everything out. Just focus on getting the seam area to lay as natural as possible because the seam usually doesn't stretch much.

I know you will get it perfect! Machine control takes some practice. Someone on here suggested placing a tennis ball under the pedal to help make it easier. That might help.

Didn't get my package from VeteranCo but so far it's not a greatest experience.
Basically, I ordered 2 strips of SC-023 ($4.25 each for $8.50 total). They don't have shipping calculator on website or online store. Anyway, I see a charge for $41 on my CC. About $33 to ship 2 plastic strips? I emailed about it to the person I spoke with - no response. I will wait for package but it doesn't look good.

:astonished: man I’m sorry. I’ve never ordered these things from them. I wonder why the shipping for small plastic clips is so outrageous. I didn’t mean to mislead you into that. I’m going to take note of them to ask what shipping will be. Has anyone else had this experience with them?

@Cody No problem, it was my order ! I will ask again once I get package, maybe invoice will reveal what cost that much :) I asked for leather samples, maybe they charged for those? Who knows. It's just lack of response is what I didn't like so far.

And they definitely cater to businesses, whole ordeal with forms, etc is not really "retail"

Yes, once you find out let me or us know. Be curious to see the reason for this. Like you said it may be the samples also with it. If it’s just shipping alone and the plastic clips, then that’s ridiculous.

Got the package. Instead of 6x6 box with rolled strips they sent 6ft tube. No invoice of course. Just strips and leather samples

@IvanD this is a little off putting. No invoice would make me wonder even more. I ordered material from them once and they had it in those plastic envelopes on the side. I ordered enough shipping seemed reasonable for it. Now I’m wondering if I ordered less if it shipping would go down.

Most of the time, companies will charge for leather samples.

Probably, will not know until I get invoice. I got samples from 2 other companies for free. Ultra leather samples I bought for $1 per piece

Edit: received invoice. Yep, it’s 33.46 for shipping
