How To Choose High-Density Upholstery Foam For Cushions

This spring, I decided to redo my couch cushions myself and selected high-density upholstery foam for cushions based on its thickness. I selected 4-inch thick foam for bottom cushions and three-inch-thick foam for the backrest.

Around 35lb high-density upholstery foam that fits your budget is good for bottom cushions. The bottom must be firmer compared to the backrest, as one has to sit on it for a long duration.

I chose two-inch thick memory foam topper on the top for making the backrest as comfortable as possible. This was also done to bridge the gap between the cushions, and these can also be rolled up for extra storage.

The foam can be purchased in standard mattress sizes and further it can be cut using an electric carving knife. According to me, one twin mattress can be cut into the two V-berth cushions. I used queen-sized mattresses or foam to create my two quarter-berth cushions and upholstered them with a soft covering that goes well with my home interior.

@Joseph Eguia ,

It sounds like a good option. I am fortunate to have a very large foam supplier in my area and get my dream of any foam I want!

That sounds like it will be one comfortable couch! I always just choose the foam I think will be most comfortable base on feel. Layering density is also a great way to get the right feel as well!

John, what's the name of the place in Phoenix that has foam? I went there years ago to pick some up for the guy that was doing my seats, I forget the name of the place.

The best place to buy foam I found in Phoenix was called Just Foam. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Just+ ... 12.0987433

But I think the place I mentioned before for supplies may have been Tempe sales
