Dining chair with back support upholstery/foam

I'm a furniture maker trying to make a dining chair that has an upholstered back similar to that of the chair pictured below.

I've found many resources online that discuss how to do this by stapling the fabric to an inner frame located inside of the outside wooden frame. This is OK, but requires a single/double welt cord of similar fabric glued over the staples. In the chair above, there is no welt cord used, and I believe it looks very elegant. But, I am unsure how this back rest was upholstered?

Maybe someone can chime in with an idea/description as to how to upholster a back like this?

Thanks in advance

I don’t know about furniture but I have seen with custom car interiors but drill small indents in the wood and use strong but small magnets to hold things together. Might be an option?

Yeah, that's a good idea. I was toying with that idea - would take a little trial and error, but would probably work.

This chair back appears to be a friction fit back. notice the bottom of the back has more wood showing and the top puffs out a bit? there would be a routed top and bottom. My guess is that they covered a curved board, carefully concealing the edges and pressed it into the frame.

The seat is a drop-in but also tightly fitted.
