Hello all.
I have been combating this issue with my Singer 241-13 for sometime now. Thread doesn't pass through the shuttle hole but outside. Tried solving but not able to. I have adjusted the holes on the throat plate and shuttle to help sew heavy materials and leather. I have just realized the thread doesn't pass through the shuttle hole.

@Miker,I'm not able to upload pics for now.
But the looking at the machine again I realize it is able to pic thread from bobbin but the main problem now is when I want to use a thick thread to sew. The upper thread keeps fraying and tearing. I tried but not able to resolve.

Hi @Hope Komla
If the thread is fraying because the hole is too small your machine probably isn't able to sew with thread that thick. You could try making the hole bigger.
What size thread are you using and what are using this thick thread for?

@ John.
I have widen the holes both in the bobbin and the throat plate.
With regards to the thread I use no.210D/3, 210D/6 and 210D/9.
Even with the first two which are small thread sizes they also fray and tear!

@Hope Komla ,
I was having major issues with my thread fraying and tearing as well. I tried almost everything I could and eventually found a mechanic that knew how to resolve the problem. If you have the option I would recommend getting the sewing machine serviced at a shop.

Make sure everything is very smooth. You could have a sharp edge or a burr somewhere that is causing the thread to fray.
Also @BigRig has a point. Your timing could be off. See if your manual has instructions on setting the timing or you can take it in to get serviced.
