Thanks for reading my post. I'm new to all of this so I'm hoping some of you can recommend a type, brand and model that you like. I have only been given on kind to try. Fiskars Razor Edge. It appears there are many Razor Edge by Fiskars. ALSO, I'm not wanting to break the bank. I won't be doing a lot of cutting since I'm just starting out so I would like something to fit me and my requirements. Thanks, Mark

I get where you are coming from and if not ready to invest in Heavy Shears you may want to go to Home Depot and get a heavy set of Millwakee shears.

Recently purchased a set of Wiss10 3/8” shears, I highly recommend them, great price too.

I use these sheetmetal shears when I have to cut leather glued with scrim foam, etc, and they work really well:

On long straight cuts I just use a thin razor blade and a straight edge. Actually a razor blade is my go to choice on most cutting jobs. They are easy to follow marked line and make cutting curves really easy. I also use a rotary cutter, which allow for smooth cutting. Just be sure you have a solid backer underneath your material.

In my opinion its will last your lifetime. Some guys like the more expensive ones but personally I prefer these over the more expensive shears available.

If you guys havent had a chance to experience Kai shears i would absolutely recommend them. I dont even touch my other scissors anymore and have 6 pair of Kais now. They are a bit more than wiss but worth every penny. 10" and 12" are my go to

They sure get great reviews, I’m wondering if they have the same heft that I like about the Wiss shears?

I have tried the Kai shears. I can see why people like them. Personally I prefer my old school heavy Wiss shears though. I like how the weight of the wiss shears helps cut. The Kai shears are really light. The nice thing about them is they stay shape for a lot longer though.

I think I saw that @Trimjobber from Bry-tech distributors is having a sale on those KAI shears if anyone is interested trying them out

They are definitely lighter than the wiss but they cut much better, almost effortlessly through leather and jute pad so i dont mind not having the extra weight. They are much easier on your hands since you dont have do put much force behind them to cut.

My pair of WISS almost weight 3 pounds it seems.

In a tailor business without good scissors just nowhere. I saw this from my own experience, because I have been interested in sewing clothes for many years. I also had a lot of tailors' scissors, but they all did not suit me with something: either the handles are not comfortable, they cut badly, then they quickly become dull.
