What is this seat rubber called?

I tore apart a Mercedes SUV seat and found thin layers of foam covered with this rubber, sew foam over top then felt.
What is this foam rubber called?

It is like floor mat. Pulling that Mercedes seat apart was educational.

Did you take apart the Mercedes seat only to practice? It would be very instructional for noobies to take apart different seats to see how manufacturers work
When I read about the Mercedes seat, I thought about what a trimmer explained in this article:

I dismantle any seat that comes my way only to practice. I am busy right now studying you could say until my next project comes around.
