@Cody, often the customer does not factor in the destruct and construct costs. I spent 7.5 hours today taking the trim out of a truck and still have the carpet and one seat to go yet. Do you charge for shop clean up or does the time clock stop while you clean and restart when you start their project up? Have you ever been asked that?

@BigRig im kind of a push over on myself. I guess I usually don’t charge for cleanup. Luckily I’ve never had anyone ask this before. But I guess in all honesty. It is their mess so to speak and they should pay for clean up. Man 7.5 hours to remove trim. You have more patience than me.

I’m still very new to the business aspect of things and trying to get a grasp on how to charge, what things like clean up etc do I charge for. I often make runs to get a grinding disk or something when I’m out and realize after the fact I forget to charge and then tell myself “the mark up of this product covers a grinding disk” not the right mentality.

Clean up time is part off the job and should not be free. It doesn't have to be at your full labor rate if you are uncomfortable with it but it shouldn't be free.

@John, I have just decided that its part of the hourly rate billed out. I am cleaning on the move and some of this stuff is just %$#*&%. I spent more time vacuming the rust and paint that was falling off a frame today than anything. @ Cody it is a hell of a big job so a lot of screws and accessories like speakers, lights etc....
