I used PVC board on this one....it was a quick fix. I'm going to try out my router and bondo skills on my next project.

Does pvc board have a special name in the trimmers world and where do you find it at? It looks like you were able to form it ( by heating ) I'm guessing. Also what sizes and thicknesses does it come in? Is it easier and cheaper to get a hold of over ABS? I'm going to need A LOT for what I'm about to tackle!

I believe the brand name is Sintra for the PVC sheets. I normally ask my plastic supply company for 4x8 PVC sheets. Comes In Different colors and thicknesses up to 3/4 inch. I used 1/8 sheets and are around $50.

On the package tray .... I just cut it to shape with a razor blade. I didn’t do any heating. The center section was a piece of MDF I cut out with a router. PVC boards sand pretty easy as well.

Hey guys I stand corrected. I had seen it at home depot before but Im looking on their website and looks like they don't carry it any more.

The stuff goes by a lot of names. PVC Foam board what I hear it called most often. Also marine board and sintra

@Todds34rod If its only $50 a sheet and you can cut it with a knife that same as ABS it will be my new favorite. I pay about $90 for a sheet of ABS. I love ABS because you don't need a saw to cut it and you don't make a big mess.

This is what I found out about the PVC board and yes you definitely can cut the 1/8 with a razor easily. I haven’t used anything thicker. I normally use 2 pieces of 1/8 so I can hide my clips.


PVC foamboard is solid but 1/2 the weight of regular PVC sheets, and is sold in (1/8" and 1/4") for door panels. It goes by many different brand names like Sintra, Komatex, Palight, and CelTec. Most sign shops and plastic suppliers have it, or can get it. It is strong and easily formable with standard woodworking tools, is waterproof, and a lot lighter than other products used for door panels.

I use the first one for clips. i normally don’t drill that many holes but I messed up on this one and had to redrill holes. The second one hides my clips. I mark my holes then lightly dremmel the back side of smooth board to create room for the clip. That way they fit flush together. Then I make my design on the top panel.

Really Cool! I like that it can be cut with a razor too! The less mess the better!
