can i glue vinyl straight to the foam head liner after sanding and cleaning it? any info will be appreciated thanks

You can but it probably wont look very smooth if your using vinyl. I would first glue down a layer of 1/4 inch foam or 1/8 inch closed cell foam. Depending on the finish your looking for. Closed cell is firmer and personally that's what I would use.

If you use closed cell make sure you lightly sand the skin off with 120 grit paper before you glue it on.

I just went through this and had to tear my work off and get a layer of 1/4 foam on, I wasted a lot of time and material learning that lesson.

I have actually become a little worried about spraying my adhesive onto form then laying the vinyl down. I see how quickly you can get a little wave and it looksl ike John sain not very smooth.

Yup unfortunately sometimes mistakes like that is how we get better at the trade. Ive had to re-do lots of things along the way.
