Hello! I'm working on a 27 T. The headliner is causing some head scratching. I've included pictures. The open space in the ceiling is causing some extra stress. At a recent car show, one person had the headliner attached using a strong magnet. Any suggestions for how to attach the headliner?

Thanks!

Are you creating an underlayment for the headliner to attach to and wondering how to attach that, or more a suspended type of headliner?

@Cody - I don't know. I'm quite baffled at this stage, to be honest. I'm thinking more of a suspended type of headliner.

Is it possible to add a tack strip behind the wood for the side panels? You could take the edge there and then install the side panels to hide your staples. Then possibly glue to the metal around the sunroof and hide with a beauty ring.

My pickup truck used a flat cardboard type headliner. From the factory they had trim pieces around the outside to hold them up, but my truck didn't come from the factory with a headliner so I didn't have the trim. I used heavy duty industrial Velcro to hold mine up. I wasn't sure how it would hold up over time but it has been in the truck for 3 years now with zero trouble. You could possibly also use the small plastic x-mas tree type push clips if you are going to make a headliner board for it.

@Cody What kind of glue would you use to attach the metal around the sunroof?

@Mikesimpson How does the heavy duty velcro adhere? The car is in southern Saskatchewan (Canada) and while it won't be driven in the winter, even in storage, would be exposed to cold temperatures.

@mdy25 It has a very good quality double stick tape. I live in central Illinois, so mine has seen 100 plus degree weather in the summer to -10 degrees during winter storage. Ive been very happy with it and will definitely be using it more. Its not your normal hook and loop type velcro. I attached a link. This is the stuff that I used.
