Hi,

My first post here and hoping that I can get some advise. I just bought a new/used Audi with a seat that is identical to the one in this picture. My issue is the vertical piping/edging that you can see on the bottom and back of the seat. They are about an 1-2” apart. They are slightly raised and I am finding them extremely uncomfortable only because they line up with the middle of my back. They are raised (and hard enough) to drive me crazy. My analogy is realizing after a while you forgot to remove one of the tags on new clothes. I’m at a loss as to what to do...

Is there any scenario where a metal roller and heat might work to flatten/crush them down a bit? It’s probably not helping that the perforated leather is not soft at all. It feels like it will last forever but not soft to the touch.

Here is a pic of the backside of the seat cover removed. I’m wondering if an upholstery shop could remove the beading/edging and simply re-sew. Unfortunately I would have to do the whole car if I wanted it to match. Any thoughts appreciated, I’m at a loss and so annoyed I didn’t really notice this until after I drove it home.

Unfortunately, they’re is something inside those. Usually a plastic piping, what doesn’t really flatten or soften for a long period. An upholstery shop can take those out and if the material is good around it, sew it back together. Idk what they’d charge but it’s not always easy or cheap. Have you thought about a thicker seat cover to just cushion it?

Thanks, you confirmed what I thought. If I can get them removed and re-sewn that’s probably my best option. Any type of cover would probably work but I really want to keep the stock look. I’ll post back with a pic of what I do.

You may be able to pull the center core out if there’s not many bends, may help it lay better. Don’t know what it would look like when done but it would probably match better than removing the piping totally.
