I'm a furniture maker trying to make a dining chair that has an upholstered back similar to that of the chair pictured below.

I've found many resources online that discuss how to do this by stapling the fabric to an inner frame located inside of the outside wooden frame. This is OK, but requires a single/double welt cord of similar fabric glued over the staples. In the chair above, there is no welt cord used, and I believe it looks very elegant. But, I am unsure how this back rest was upholstered?
Maybe someone can chime in with an idea/description as to how to upholster a back like this?
Thanks in advance
